Supporting Early Career Researchers is a major goal of FAIR
Seven postdocs work directly within FAIR joined by additional postdocs and Ph.D. students from the participating research groups. The Early Career Researchers (ECRs) will be supervised by two PIs of different departments, with whom they will develop supervision and target agreements. All FAIR researchers will exchange ideas and progress reports frequently in regular retreats and colloquia but also in rapid feedback cycles as a major work component of agile research teams.
However, FAIR will not only support the ECRs scientifically but with regard to providing a budget for career development measures, such as mentoring – e.g. by members of FAIR’s advisory board – coaching or workshops. ECRs are invited to participate in the program of the Graduate Center at TU Dortmund or the cross-university Research Academy Ruhr. To enhance their teaching competencies, ECRs can make use of training opportunities provided by the Center for Higher Education at TU Dortmund.
